Based on the announcement of the “Regulations for Enhancing the Skills and Improving the Employability of Students” by the Honorable Deputy of Education of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the necessity of creating skills courses for students and graduates in order to develop individual, social and professional skills and reduce the gap between the university and industry, the Pars Institute of Architecture and Art as a first-level and leading university in the country comprehensively conducts skills training in the field of general skills and specialized in managerial-legal skills.

Pars Institute of Architecture and Art has planned and implemented a comprehensive plan with a skill-building approach in order to identify specialized needs and prepare students for effective presence in society and enter the labor market by forming a skill development council and employing specialized working groups by inviting prominent experts in the field of industry and the professional community.

In this monograph, by introducing the generalities of the comprehensive plan for skill development and improving the employability of students, the definitions, goals, and executive plans of this plan are also expressed in detail. This great event, which is being launched and implemented for the first time in the history of higher education in Iran, helps to realize national sustainable development plans, generate wealth in the society, and increase the employability and entrepreneurship of graduates by increasing the capabilities of students.

Definitions
Employability:

It is a set of successes, abilities, skills, knowledge, and overall individual competencies that prepares graduates to achieve success and find employment in their desired profession and increases the possibility of entering the business environment in order to increase the productivity of themselves, their families, society, and the economy.

 
Skill development:

Learning techniques and learning the experiences of specialists, recognizing the methods of doing the profession and the ability to interact in the business environment, and acquiring effective capacities in creating thinking, ideation, and production, which are divided into three main categories:
General and basic skills (shared by different educational subgroups to enhance individual skills and interact with the community and business environments)
Specialized skills (common between the disciplines of a sub-educational group in order to increase the capabilities of the profession and readiness to be present in the specialized community of the desired profession)
Managerial-legal skills (balanced with the professional needs of the disciplines of an educational sub-discipline in order to inform and transfer managerial and legal experiences in business environments)

 
Empiricism:

Nowadays, due to rapid social, economic, and scientific developments, it is necessary for human beings to learn the experiences of experts in advancing personal development programs with a new approach and gain more mastery in performing professional activities in less time. For this purpose, the Pars Institute of Architecture and Art has provided the grounds for addressing the necessities of experimentalism by launching the “Learn the Experience” campaign.

The Transformation of Education Experience Event in 2021, which focuses on the completion of basic and specialized units, makes it possible to develop a skill before graduation with the help of experience-based training. This plan provides the possibility for students to learn practical experiences in general, specialized, and even managerial skills while completing their university studies.
The comprehensive plan of Pars Co-Op, in order to coherently guide the achievement of the goals of the Skill Development Council of Pars Institute of Architecture and Art, has predicted and planned the following as the main goals of the plan:
Implementation of supplementary skills training appropriate to each field and the needs of the labor market
Applying the necessary standards to pass the internship courses in the highest quality
Establishing continuous course-based interaction with industrial and production centers
* Definition of skill courses in two general and specific sections
Formation of the university’s policy-making and curriculum innovation council in order to promote the employability of graduates
Designing and implementing innovative courses with the aim of entering students into business environments
Setting up affiliated university centers and holding technical and vocational courses in cooperation with the Technical and Vocational Education Organization
Creating education-oriented start-ups in fields of study with low employment
Monitoring the employment status of graduates with the aim of revising the curriculum and adapting them to the needs of the society
Holding specialized courses and workshops for students with the aim of getting acquainted with the business environment
Applying models based on professional and professional competencies in designing curricula
Visiting industrial centers and executive projects
Increasing the share of basic skills and technology training in the curriculum of non-skilled fields
Developing skills training in accordance with the needs of the labor market through cooperation with industries, ministries and governmental, executive and industrial agencies

 
 
Objectives of the Comprehensive Plan for Skill Development and Employability (Co-Up Pars)

Acquiring more general, specialized, managerial, legal and competent skills in order to increase the probability of success in the future career
Exploiting side training to consolidate and strengthen your specialized knowledge with low-cost and effective methods.
Creating a ground for communication with organizations and executive agencies.
– Issuance of special skill certificates in both Persian and English, which indicates the student’s competence and higher quality of education.

 
Conditions

In line with the implementation of the Pars Co-up Plan, the institute has predicted skill-based courses in the students’ curriculum for all levels from the current semester. Therefore, all students can apply for credits based on the following conditions:

  •  Students must choose at least two courses from the skills courses from the beginning of the second semester and before the time of graduation.
  •  Students are allowed to take up to 24 credits of the skills courses announced by the institute’s education in addition to the 20 credits allowed each semester.
  •  There is no restriction in the selection of these courses from the point of view of the department and faculty, and students can take any number of skill courses from any group if they wish.
  •  It is possible to receive a skill report card in addition to the educational report.
  •  It is possible to obtain a bilingual skill certificate by passing at least 6 credits for master’s, bachelor’s, and associate students, and 12 credits for continuous bachelor’s students from the skill course table.
