According to the Public Relations Office of Pars University of Architecture and Art, Professor Mahmoud Golabchi—founder of Pars University, a distinguished figure in architecture and civil engineering in Iran, and holder of the UNESCO Chair in Architecture—was featured as a special guest on the “Good Morning Iran” program on IRIB TV1 to mark Architect’s Day.

At the beginning of the interview, after congratulating viewers on Architect’s Day, Professor Golabchi stated that architecture is the vessel of human life and a blend of art, engineering, and the humanities. He emphasized that architecture has a direct impact on people’s quality of life and therefore must serve their beliefs, traditions, climate, and well-being.

Referring to the rich and proud history of Iranian architecture, he noted that it has always been a source of pride on the global stage and has influenced architectural design in various parts of the world.

The founder of Pars University stressed that contemporary Iranian architecture needs to return to its historical and cultural roots. He added that modern technologies such as artificial intelligence should serve architecture rather than overshadow its identity and authenticity.

He emphasized: Artificial intelligence will not replace humans but can be a practical tool for architects.

Professor Golabchi also pointed out the need for proper architectural education with a focus on sustainability. He explained that Pars University of Architecture and Art was founded with the aim of transferring the values of authentic Iranian architecture to students, and that despite current challenges in the academic and professional communities, the future of Iranian architecture remains promising.

In another part of the interview, he referred to the high level of energy consumption in buildings and the importance of sustainable architecture. He noted that over 40% of Iran’s energy consumption comes from buildings, and that even a 25% reduction could cut more than 10% of the country’s total energy use.

In conclusion, Professor Golabchi stated that sustainable architecture plays a vital role in environmental protection and energy management, and that today’s architects and engineers must pay greater attention to this issue and their responsibilities toward it.
