According to the university’s Public Relations Office, the seminar—focused on the themes of Cities, Buildings, and the Environment—featured Professor Siamak Shahneshin, a renowned architect in sustainable design and a lecturer at prestigious international universities.

During the event, Professor Shahneshin presented and analyzed architectural projects from various countries that exemplify sustainable design principles. He delivered a lecture on the concept of sustainability and its impact on the environment and citizens’ quality of life.

Highlighting how sustainability is often discussed in dry, uninspiring terms, Professor Shahneshin emphasized that sustainable architecture involves designing and constructing buildings that consider both human and environmental needs.

He cited traditional homes in Mazandaran as excellent examples of optimal use of local materials and design tailored to the humid, temperate climate. Similarly, historic buildings in Gilan, designed with an emphasis on climate adaptability, contribute to ecological sustainability.

He further explained how the kapar architecture in Sistan and Baluchestan illustrates smart design solutions and the use of local materials to withstand harsh climatic conditions. He also noted the creative use of natural light and spatial design in the architecture of Yazd, reflecting innovation in sustainable construction.

Professor Shahneshin stressed that sustainable architecture is, at its core, a thoughtful and practical design process rooted in environmental and social responsibility. He added that every building constructed today will affect future generations, making it essential to integrate sustainability at every stage of the design and construction process.

He concluded his talk by exploring emerging concepts in architecture, including injected architecture, regeneration, and transdisciplinary approaches.

This seminar aimed to create an interactive platform for sharing Professor Shahneshin’s extensive professional experience and was well-received by students and professionals in the field of architecture.

In alignment with its commitment to expanding knowledge and practical skills, Pars University continues to host specialized seminars on diverse and contemporary topics to foster knowledge exchange and build stronger connections between students and industry veterans.
